Is it possible to make a transfer or flocking using a simple iron?
We strongly advise against using an iron to make a transfer or flocking on a T-shirt. Our products are not designed and adapted for use with an iron and the result obtained will therefore be very uncertain, particularly for medium or large logos or visuals.
We recommend using a heat press. We offer them from €299 incl. VAT.
Find all our heat presses in the Heat Pressessection.

I'm looking for a cutting plotter but I don't know which one to choose: how do I make the right choice?
A cutting plotter is a machine (also called an output device) that allows you to cut adhesive materials in the form of rolls, such as flex for textile marking or vinyl for all exterior surfaces (windows, cars, etc.).
The choice of plotter must be defined according to your project. To make the right choice, you need to ask yourself 3 essential questions:
1 - What is the maximum cutting width required to make my cuts? There are three sizes of plotters: small format (300 to 420 mm), intermediate format (600 to 720 mm) and large format (1200 to 1600 mm).
2 - Do I need to make a fairly basic cut (such as lettering for a sports jersey), or a complex and fine cut (for fairly detailed logos)?
3 - Finally, am I looking for a plotter for daily use (professional or semi-professional plotter) or for occasional use (plotter for hobbyists or beginners)?
To find out more, see our tutorial on Textile Flocking .

When I make my flock or transfer on a T-shirt, the colours do not come out well and/or my transfer does not adhere properly to the T-shirt, what is the problem?
The problem can be caused by a combination of heat time, temperature and pressure.
You should perform several tests before starting a production run, in order to find the right adjustment between pressure, heat time and temperature. If the colours seem too pale, or the transfer does not stick well, try increasing the pressure, heating time and temperature in turn.
Also remember to check the recommended heating conditions on the product sheet of the sublimatable product (T-shirt, mug, key ring, etc.). They will give you an idea of the conditions to be applied, even if these conditions vary from one press to another.
If the problem persists, contact our technical department on 01 82 41 00 90.

How do I choose a specific flex or vinyl colour? Do the colours of the pads on the website correspond exactly to the references given?
If you are looking for a specific colour, we advise you not to rely on the colours shown on our website. This is because the colours shown on a computer screen never correspond exactly to the real colour. Light effects have a direct influence on the perception of colour.
We recommend that you order the colour chart for the flex or vinyl you are interested in. This way you can choose the colour of your choice with certainty, and appreciate its rendering, texture and thickness.

I have received my cutting plotter, but I cannot connect my plotter to my computer and/or my computer cannot find the plotter?
You must connect your cutting plotter to your computer before you turn it on. Once your cutting plotter is turned on, go to your computer under "Device Manager / Com Port". Select the port corresponding to your plotter.
If the problem persists, contact us at 01 82 41 00 90.

How do I choose the right blade angle for the material I am cutting on my plotter?
The 45° blade is used for all types of cutting and materials with a thickness of 0.5 to 1.1 mm, this is the so-called "standard" blade. It is ideal for all flex and vinyl cutting.
60° blades are recommended for cutting thick materials such as flock, reflective vinyl, sandblast mask ....
30° blades are recommended for cutting thin materials, small lettering and complex logos.

Should a cutting blade and Teflon tape be changed regularly? If so, how often?
It all depends on your use... If you use your cutting plotter intensively, we recommend changing your cutting blade and teflon tape every six months. If, on the other hand, you use your cutting plotter occasionally or not very intensively, you can change your cutting blade and teflon tape every 12 to 18 months, depending on the wear and tear of the blade and tape.

If I want to cut fabric with my Silhouette Cameo, can I use the same cutting blade as for all other materials?
No, it is advisable to use a different blade for cutting materials such as flex, flock, vinyl and materials such as fabric. If you use the same blade, it will wear out much faster than if you use two different blades for each material. Therefore, we offer two Cameo blades on our website:
- Silhouette Cameo and Portrait Blade
- Silhouette Cameo & Portrait Special Fabric Blade

Can I use other cutting software than Silhouette Studio with the Silhouette Cameo or Silhouette Portrait?
You can only use the following software with the Silhouette Cameo:
- Silhouette Studio software (supplied with the plotter)
- Silhouette Stuodio Designer Edition software, Special Strass
- Silhouette Connect Plug (for Mac & PC)

Which file formats can be read on the Silhouette Cameo?
You must export your files in dxf format , so that they can be used in the Silhouette Studio software.
Alternatively, you can use the Silhouette Connect plug-in, which is compatible with Mac or PC. This plug-in will allow you to launch your cuts directly from your Corel Draw or Illustrator software.
